Digital Dash, Wiring Harness, and LEDs
Sunday, April 23rd, 2006It was time to replace the wiring, so I ordered the American Autowire classic update kit. The kit was great and I was able to sell my original wiring on eBay for $200 so the cost ended up being very reasonable. A new alternator from Summit was about $80 and I finished the wiring in a few weekends. It’s nice to have modern fuses and no worries about old frayed wiring. I decided on a completely digital dash and ordered a Dakota Digital dash cluster with all new sending units. Installation was a snap, although the gas sending unit (the only one not included in the kit) didn’t work properly, so I was relegated to topping it off often. I also put LED brake lights in from Technostalgia, which provided a dramatically brighter warning for cars behind me than the 40 year old bulb design. Highly recommended!
